DataBar & DataBar Truncated Generation

Barcode Information | Tutorials | Examples

The DataBar barcode specification is used in IDAutomation Barcode Fonts, Components and Applications to create a DataBar or DataBar Truncated Barcode, which encodes the 14-digit GTIN. If less than 14 digits are in the DataToEncode, zeros are appended to the beginning of the number. If additional data needs to be encoded such as expiration date, package weight or serial number, consider using the GS1 DataBar Expanded symbology. The height of a DataBar symbol is 34x (34 times the X dimension) while DataBar Truncated uses the same symbol with the bars shortened to 13x.

  • Using DataBar Barcode Fonts with a feature level 9 or greater font encoder returns text formatted to DataBar 34 specifications. A DataBar Truncated barcode may also be created with this option by choosing the DataBar 13 font since the encoding of each is the same.
  • Using the DataBar or DataBar Truncated option in all Components and Applications will produce a readable barcode image.

The above DataBar and DataBar Truncated barcodes were created with the DataBar Barcode Image Generator at 96 DPI.

These DataBar and DataBar Truncated barcodes are easily read and verified with the IDAutomation USB Barcode Scanner with DataBar.
