Printable Barcode Object Patent Granted to IDAutomation

by Nate Schubert

To date, it has been difficult to embed barcode capabilities into many software applications because these applications generally required barcode fonts or graphical barcode objects to be installed on each workstation in order to see and print the barcode. However, after years of working with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, IDAutomation has been granted a patent for a method used to generate a printable barcode object, which encodes data from within a particular software application. The patented method assembles barcode symbols from Unicode characters that exist in standard system fonts, and can be utilized with ease in a variety of applications and platforms. This method may be used to create several linear and 2D barcode types including Code-128, GS1-128, Code-39, Postnet, QR-Code, Data Matrix and PDF417.

While the patent has been recently granted, IDAutomation has been utilizing this technology since 2006 in patent-pending status within several barcode generation products, which include:

Ajax & JavaScript Barcode Generator: Easily add pure JavaScript barcodes to AJAX and Web applications.
Native Barcode Generator for Crystal Reports: Easily add barcodes to Crystal Reports without installing special fonts, UFLs or plug-ins.
Native FileMaker Pro Barcode Generator Plug-In: Easily create barcodes in FileMaker Pro layouts with one calculated field.
Native Barcode Generator for Oracle Reports: Easily add barcodes to Oracle Reports without installing special fonts.

Each of the above IDAutomation barcode generation products will allow you to utilize this newly patented system of generating barcodes within specific applications without installing individual fonts or other components, thereby increasing efficiency and productivity in your workplace.
