How To Install Barcode Fonts in Windows
Installing Barcode Fonts in a Windows operating system is much like installing any other type of font. Download, unzip, install and begin using. Seems easy, right? Not always! All too often, users don’t know which directory the program downloads to, how to unzip it, or what to do after the product is installed. It’s not rocket science, but it’s easy to overlook something simple and never get your product installed.
Here is a short and simple outline of the barcode font installation process in Windows environments. While this process is intended for the installation of the IDAutomation barcode font package, it may not be specific and may be appropriate for installing other fonts.
- Download. Be sure you know where your software is being downloaded; In many cases, the default location is the Download folder in “My Documents.” It is also possible with many web browsers to simply click the download once it is complete to open up the folder where the product has been downloaded.
- Extract. Right-click on the file you downloaded and select “Extract All…” You will be asked to select a destination and click Okay. You can use your Downloads folder as the destination, but you can also click the Browse button to find the right location for your program folders to live.
- Install. Once the files have been extracted, go into the product folder and double-click the executable file to begin installing the font package. Agree to the terms and conditions and click Next to proceed, then Start when you have specified the destination of the directory.
Once the barcode fonts are installed, you may need to restart your computer before the fonts are visible as options in your programs.
