Integrating QR Codes into Oracle BI Publisher

This QR Code Barcode was created using IDAutomation fonts

Oracle BI Publisher is a powerful reporting tool that many businesses use to get fast, robust and efficient reporting on all kinds of business processes, revenue streams, inventory tracking projects, and more. Adding QR Codes to Publisher reports may seem difficult due to the complex nature of the environment, but Tim Dexter at Oracle Daily makes it look easy.

Tim makes use of IDAutomation’s QR Code Font and Encoder Package Demo and the included java components to generate dynamic QR Codes in an Oracle BI Publisher report. This component is available in the developer license versions of the QR Code Font and Encoder Advantage Package. While IDAutomation does not directly support Oracle, we do believe that the support we provide in relation to our fonts, combined with this excellent Oracle BI Publisher – QR Code Integration guide, users will have no problems generating the barcodes they need.

Have any readers used IDAutomation Java components to generate barcodes in Oracle BI Publisher? Leave us a comment and tell us about your experience. We’d love to hear about it!

Link to "Oracle BI Publisher – QR Code Integration guide" is no longer valid.

  2. Thank you for letting us know. The webpage has been moved to https://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/entry/quick_quips_on_qr_codes

  3. I have just downloaded your test software and (after some trial and error) made the DEMO QR-Code run with BiPublisher for Dekstop, Template Viewer and Template Builder for Word Addin.

The Oracle blog deals only with BI Publisher desktop.

We need to deploy to a BI Publisher server (v11).

I know Oracle should do this, but I am actually lost now.
Do you have a tutorial on how to deploy the 2 Jars to the BI-Publisher server and where to modify the classpath?

    Best Regards
    Gerhard

  4. Hi Gerhard,
I'm sorry for the delayed response. One of Oracle's developers wrote a blog post regarding using our QR Code software in his Publisher that may be of assistance to you https://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/entry/quick_quips_on_qr_codes

  5. Unfortunately, the blog is mainly about deployment on the desktop version of BI Publisher (Template viewer, Word plugin) and not on the BI publisher server.

I have foudn out myself in the meantime by "trial and error".

    Best Regards
    Gerhard

  6. Thank you for the update Gerhard and I'm glad you were able to get it working. Any tips you can leave for future users?
